| Our Boarder Leicestr Cross |
Here’s How it Works ~ Our Fiber CSA is all about community. Your involvement helps us make our farm more sustainable. We welcome your involvement in farm activities and to visit the farm to see the animals when you are in the area. If you like you can participate in work days, shearing days and other events at the farm.
When you purchase a share in our Fiber CSA you are investing in our diversified farm. You will receive a member certificate, periodic email newsletters about what’s happening at the farm. We are happy to ship products to you (you pay the shipping costs).
In some cases you may choose to select fiber from the next shearing in order to get what you want. Some members choose the animal from which they want the wool, and it is processed according to their request. Depending upon your circumstances you may choose to redeem your share project by project, or all at once when you visit the farm.
Our flock began with Romney, Lincoln Corriedale ewes. Since then we have had Romney rams, a Corriedale ram, and now a Border Leicester ram. Our 30 sheep now include some purebred Finnsheep and Finn-Romney crosses. Spring lambing will begin toward the end of March, and is a wonderful time for you to visit.

Our yarn is called “farmspun”, which means it comes from our own sheep it is neither handspun nor commercial fiber. The quantity depends upon processing costs, i.e. you receive more natural colored yarn than hand dyed, because it costs more to hand dye it.
You may choose:
 |
 |
 |
| Natural or Hand Dyed Yarn |
Fiber to Spin |
Hand Dyed Roving to Felt |
· A spinners share includes roving or blended batts.
· A felters share of hand dyed and natural unspun wool, and tools and patterns of your choice.
· A yarn share may include 100% wool or 50/50 mohair blend, natural or hand dyed. We also have a nice supply of angora yarn spun with local angora bunnies blended with our Finnsheep wool.
We’ve priced our CSA membership at $100 per share. Of course you’re welcome to buy more than one share. The income we receive for memberships will be used for processing the wool, and care of our animals. A membership also entitles you to free registration to one of the classes taught by Marty, a $30.00 value. These include basic needle felting, wet felting, Hand Dyeing, and Dyeing with Plants.
Please contact us if you have questions.
