Needle felting is a creative technique used to create designs out of unspun hand dyed wool using a special needle. The sharp needle has tiny barbs at the tip that pulls the wool through a background fabric. Because the wool has microscopic fish hooks in it, it will be permanently affixed. A special foam block is placed under your work surface to protect the needle tip and the undersurface.
An artist friend, Nevas, created the concept of "Thyme Tiles", which are 4 3/4 inch squares of 100% wool felt with a hand drawn pattern on it. We offer kits with many designs and all the colors of unspun wool needed to complete the design. The completed project can be used as a coaster, a framed piece of art, or a pocket on a knitted garment of bag.
We offer completed "Pocket Bags" and pocket bag kits yarn and from our sheep. Once knitted the bag is "fulled" in the washing machine with hot water (some people call this boiled wool) making a dense and durable bag.
Finally a pocket is made using needle felting and finally it is sewn onto the bag. Each bag is unique. The size of the bags varies depending on the yarn used.
